Catherine Suarez, Ridgefield Democratic Municipal Chair

Catherine Suarez is a dedicated and accomplished individual with a deep commitment to serving her community. She has been married to former Mayor Anthony Suarez (2003-2023) for over 26 years and is mother to their children, Laura and Matthew. As a long-time resident of Ridgefield since 1996, Catherine understands the unique needs and aspirations of the borough's residents.


Catherine's educational background is a testament to her commitment to excellence. After graduating from high school, she pursued her academic journey at Rutgers College and the Rutgers School of Business in New Brunswick, earning a joint degree in Accounting. Building upon this strong foundation, she went on to attend Rutgers Law School -- Newark, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree and became licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and New York. Catherine's multidisciplinary expertise equips her with a comprehensive perspective and a valuable skill set for effective decision-making and problem-solving.


Throughout her career, Catherine has excelled in various professional roles. She has served as a commercial litigator for a respected midsized law firm in Essex County, showcasing her proficiency in navigating complex legal matters. Her success as a large law firm account manager for a Fortune 500 company, where she consistently achieved President's Club status, reflects her exceptional performance and commitment to excellence. Catherine's professional experiences have equipped her with a keen understanding of business dynamics and legal complexities, making her a valuable asset for addressing the challenges facing the borough.


In addition to her professional accomplishments, Catherine is deeply engaged in community service. As President of the Board of Trustees of the Ridgefield Free Public Library, Catherine plays a pivotal role in promoting literacy and expanding access to educational resources. Her long-standing dedication to the library is further evidenced by her 15-year tenure as the treasurer on the library board, demonstrating her financial acumen and responsible stewardship.


Catherine's commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive community is evident through her involvement in the Ridgefield Anti-Bullying Committee. By working to create a nurturing environment, Catherine strives to ensure that every resident feels valued and protected. As an elected committee member of the Ridgefield Democratic Municipal Committee, Catherine actively contributes to the democratic process, advocating for transparency and effective governance. Her previous engagements with the Ridgefield Elementary PTA Board, Ridgefield Environmental Commission, and as a Ridgefield Girl Scouts Troop leader highlight her commitment to the welfare of our community, particularly in areas of education, environmental sustainability, and youth development.


Catherine Suarez's extensive experience, educational background, and deep involvement in community affairs make her an exceptional municipal chair for Ridgefield's democratic party. Her integrity, dedication, and ability to understand the needs of Ridgefield residents as well as the political environment in the borough, the county, and the state uniquely position her to help guide Ridgefield's Dems.
